Negotiation Update – Week of 03/19/07

For the week of March 19, 2007, the Local 965/WP&L negotiating committee met at the Alliant Headquarters to resume the 2007 negotiations.  There was a great deal of work done this week and modifications were made.  On March 20th, a second Solidarity Rally was held in Fond du Lac.  It was well attended and a great deal of information was shared.  Thanks to everyone that was able to attend and for your feedback to the committee.

There was a great deal of discussion on the Company’s proposal for the physical assessment they have asked for and there is still information that needs to be shared as of yet.  The Company agreed to move the proposed new Line Construction Line tech and the new rules that would have gone along with the position.  The Company decided to remove its proposal for journey credit for new journey level hires.

Other proposals that were resolved this week were:

RIF Language – Separation Pay – Remove the 5-year employment requirement along with other language improvements.

Increase storm duty allowance to $36.00.

Formation of Joint Generation Safety Committee.

Increased lead rate for temporary substitution.

Increase idle time premium.

Alternate Starting Times – 4-10’s – Holiday Pay - 10 hours

Flame Retardant Clothing – Increase initial allowance to $600 and annual rate to $400.

Include calendar in back of agreement.

Alternate Starting Times involving makeup time during workweek vs. pay period.

Medical – Coordination of Benefits

Medical – Flexible Spending Health/Dependent Care Account Cap.

Medical – Request for Company to join Union to endorse Wisconsin Healthcare Partnership Plan (AFL-CIO).  Company agreed to work outside of negotiations.

The next Solidarity Rally is scheduled for Tuesday, April 17 in Janesville at the Rock County Labor Temple, 1605 Center Avenue starting at 6:00 p.m.  Hope to see all of you there.
