Negotiations Update Week of April 9, 2007 This week the Local 965/WP&L Negotiating Committee met to continue the 2007 Negotiations. Proposals that were resolved this week were: We had lengthy discussions on the meal language and allowances with a great deal of input from many of our members. The allowances were increased but the language was modified to now require 30 minutes of work before you can receive the allowance and an understanding was reached on noon meals. The travel allowances were increased and the true-up payment requirement was removed. Safety toe footwear was increased by $5.00 each year and the ability to carryover the unused amount was kept in place. As we proceed through the remainder of contract negotiations, we need to come together and show even more solidarity. Please continue to show your support by wearing Orange and Black every Tuesday until we get a fair contract from Alliant. We have now entered into the most difficult discussions dealing with medical, 401(k) for existing members and new hires and pension. Your continued support will be critical in order to get a fair contract. In order to get a status update for negotiations, we have scheduled several Solidarity meetings for the month of April. Your attendance is critical, as we will be asking for your input on the issues that affect all of us. April 17 Janesville Rock County Labor Hall 6:00 p.m. April 17 Waupaca Best Western 6:00 p.m. April 18 Mauston Anjeros 6:00 p.m. April 19 Madison Labor Temple Room 201C - 6:00 p.m. April 19 Fond du Lac Labor Hall 6:00 p.m. Also, nominations will take place at the May 2007 Unit meetings for the positions of each Units Vice Chair/Unit Recorder and the Chief Stewards of each Sub-Unit. To be nominated for the Chief Steward positions you will either have to be in attendance or have someone from your Sub-Unit bring a signed letter of acceptance to the May Unit meeting. For the Unit Recorder position you will have to be in attendance at the May Unit meeting or have a signed letter presented at the meeting by someone else of the same Unit.
