GET YOUR SLOGAN SENT IN

The Solidarity Committee is conducting a slogan campaign with a prize being awarded to the best slogan submitted.  This slogan may be utilized during the upcoming contract negotiations with Alliant on buttons, banners, shirts, signs or any other way the solidarity committee deems appropriate.  You can submit your slogans to the Union Office by mail, fax, e-mail or any other method that get the slogan to the office.  These slogans are due by Monday, August 14, 2006.  The winning slogan will be announced at the Union Picnic however you do not need to be present to win the prize.  It would be nice to get a slogan suggestion from everyone.

IBEW 2304 HELD A SOLIDARITY RALLY

Recently we sent out an e-mail updating you on the contract negotiations between IBEW 2304 and Madison Gas and Electric.  They have yet to agree on a fair contract and continue to discuss ideas surrounding the main issues; pension, health care and wages.  On Thursday evening, July 27, 2006 there was a solidarity rally held at the Madison Labor Temple in support of the Union .  Many were in attendance including members of IBEW Local Union 965.  We had members attend from Edgewater, Mineral Point, Columbia , Poynette and Madison along with Shawn Reents, Kemp Grutt and Tony Bartels.  It was nice to show our support for other Union Brothers and Sisters involved in difficult negotiations.

ELECTIONS ARE STARTING TO HEAT UP

As we drive around the various communities we are beginning to see many campaign signs in peoples yards and on billboards.  When we turn on the television or the radio we are hearing campaign information.  We need to each do our part to support Worker friendly candidates.  By electing individuals to political offices that support labor’s issues, our struggles in contract negotiations will lessen.  We need to elect candidates that will address the health care cost issues that face this nation.  We need to support candidates that will be there with the working people when there are important issues affecting us.  Please support labor friendly candidates and get out and vote.
