Solidarity Activity As a part of our solidarity campaign as we prepare for contract negotiations with Alliant/WPL we will be conducting many solidarity activities. The first of these activities is to begin Thursday, June 1, 2006 and last through the Month of June. We will show our support for safety along with solidarity through the display of safety buttons and safety stickers. These buttons and stickers are available through your Chief Steward. In preparation for this activity, we asked the Chief Stewards to inform the Union Office how many buttons they needed and to date most of those buttons have been delivered or are being delivered to the Chief Steward over the next few days. One of the feedback requests we received was to also create safety stickers. Today, the Union Office mailed out some safety stickers to each of the Chief Steward. If more buttons or stickers are needed, requests should be submitted to the Union Office through the Chief Steward. We will send these additional supplies out as quickly as possible. Future solidarity events are being planned along with
activities surrounding the contract negotiations with Alliant/WPL.
To start with, the Union Solidarity Picnic is scheduled for August 19,
2006 at During the next two weeks the negotiations surveys will be distributed to the Chief Stewards who will be asked to distribute the surveys to each member in their Sub Unit. Each of the Chief Stewards will hold a Sub Unit meeting in late June or early July to discuss the surveys and contract negotiation issues. The Chief Stewards will then be brought together Thursday, July 20, 2006 to share what was discussed with the negotiating committee and other Chief Stewards. Surveys can be returned to the Chief Steward or mailed directly to the Union Office. We will be asking for the surveys to be returned by the end of July 2006. Following the return of the surveys, the data will be compiled and we will schedule regional meetings to discuss the findings. All members will be invited to attend these meetings that will occur through August and September 2006. In the meantime, we are looking for members to support safety and also join the solidarity activity for the month of June by displaying the safety button or safety sticker. We would also ask that members encourage other members to participate in this activity. Next, we ask that members forward other solidarity ideas to the Union Office, Chief Steward or Executive Board Representative. We will be sending out additional communication when the
surveys are to be distributed and returned.
The time is now for all of us to stand up and be a part of our |
