For your information, Alliant Energy has asked Local 965 for an extension for the interviewing process of the electrician positions at Northern and Southern Area. They will be doing interviews in the near future for those positions. Late internal applicants will be considered so if you are interested, contact your Local Manager to get in touch with hiring manager for more information. As we continue to prepare for our 2007 Alliant negotiations we need to continually be aware of the other contracts around us. There are couple updates to share with everyone. MG&E has been in negotiations with IBEW 2304 (Physical Employees) and OPEIU 39 (Clerical Employees) for a while now. While IBEW 2304 was away from the table for a week, MG&E reached tentative agreement with the OPEIU Local Union. They will be voting on this package shortly and we will try to share the details as they become available. Local IBEW 2304 continues to negotiate for a better package. Alliant Energy and Local 1439 reached tentative agreement on a 5 year deal with wage increases of 3.25, 3.25, 3.25, 3.0, and 3.0 percent respectively per year. Future hires will have to pay the full medical premium, and will no longer have the defined benefit pension plan offered today This will be replaced will be an enhanced 401(k) defined contribution plan. The Company contributions to this plan range from 4 to 6 percent depending on your age and years of service. On another note, IBEW 953, IBEW 2150 and Missouri Valley Line Constructors for the Wisconsin Outside Construction reached a three year contract with wage increases of 4.75, 4.5, and 4.5 percent respectively per year. To put their pension in perspective, they have a 25 % employer contribution to the Local/ Employer plan along with a 3% contribution to the IBEW International plan. |
