Scheduled Solidarity Event: 965 Alliant/ WP&L Member Bus Trip to the Alliant Energy Shareholders meeting. Dear
Brothers and Sisters, We’re
going on a bus trip. Show your
solidarity Thursday May 10th as we travel to Cedar Rapids, Iowa for
the annual shareholders meeting. The solidarity committee has booked a charter
bus to take us across the river. The bus holds 56 people so book your seat
quickly. You can do this by calling Betsy Pape (Local 965 office administrator)
at the union hall at (608) 259-2400 ext. 14. The bus will be leaving the Labor
Temple at 8:00 a.m. We should arrive at the hotel at approximately 11:30-12:00.
The shareholders meeting starts at 1:00, so we should have plenty of time to eat before. You
can eat lunch at the Hotel or there are places within walking distance of the
hotel. I expect we will arrive home (back at the Labor Temple) around 6:30-7:00
p.m. We ask that you wear your
orange shirts, hats, pins, or any other solidarity items you may have.
We will have some extra pins, stickers, at the Labor Hall, but bring an
extra orange shirt for a friend. On the bus there will be some light
refreshments, soda, water, and beer for the trip home. We also plan on
having a few raffle prizes for some lucky winners. Also make sure you have
proper I.D. and your proxy slip so you can attend the meeting. May 10th is a
workday for most of us so make plans to schedule a vacation day with your
supervisor. Also, if there are people from the Janesville area that are
planning on attending, the bus leaves first from Janesville then to Madison. Van
Galder said they could pick people up from a designated spot before
traveling to Madison. We will contact members on were and what time we
would meet if we choose to do this. We look forward to seeing everyone who
can come. This is not only is a good way to show our solidarity, but have some
